Product Description
The folks at Pixar can do no wrong with Monsters, Inc., the studio's fourth feature film, which stretches the computer animation format in terms of both technical complexity and emotional impact. The giant, blue-furred James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (wonderfully voiced by John Goodman) is a scare-monster extraordinaire in the hidden world of Monstropolis, where the scaring of kids is an imperative in order to keep the entire city running. Beyond the competition to be the best at the business, Sullivan and his assistant, the one-eyed Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), discover what happens when the real world interacts with theirs in the form of a 2-year-old baby girl dubbed "Boo," who accidentally sneaks into the monster world with Sulley one night. Director Pete Doctor and codirectors David Silverman and Lee Unkrich follow the Pixar (Toy Story) blueprint with an imaginative scenario, fun characters, and ace comic timing. By the last heart-tugging shot, kids may never look at monsters the same, nor artists at what computer animation can do in the hands of magicians. --Doug Thomas

Great movie
I loved this movie so much I had to own it on bluray. I have the DVD version, but I wish that PIXAR would have updated it's tour of the Pixar Studios. When this movie was first released, the studio may have been new at that time, but not anymore. This bonus feature is no longer needed on the bluray version.

Great looking Blu
My only complaint of this Blu-Ray would be that since it's older, not all the special features on the "bonus disc" are in HD. Though the Blu-Ray Bonus features are re-made especially for this release and are in glorious HD Other than that the actual movie looks amazing, and sounds fantastic. Brings the experience of Monsters Inc. to a whole new level. I love this movie even more now.

Who wants snowcones?
Just a great fun film to watch. I never saw it in the theaters but after seeing it for the first time on cable I thought it was great. I still check it out often when I have the itch to watch something that's a bit light, and funny.

timeless
Love Monsters Inc. Movie is a classic and even better on blu ray. Nice to get the bluray disc and a regular disc so we can watch this movie everywhere!

One of my best fun movie collection!
Movie:
Great fun movie which anybody can watch repeatatively. If you are a animation movie lover.. if you are comedy lover.. you can't miss this movie.

4-Disc pack:
Awesome! Now I own, both Blu-ray and DVD version of this movie. Bonus features are lot: MONSTERS, INC. Ride And Go Seek: Building Monstropolis In Japan Go Behind The Scenes Of The New Attraction In Tokyo Disneyland, Filmmaker's Round Table Filmmakers Reflect On The Creation Of The Film, Audio Commentary, Pixar Fun Factory Tour, Banished Concepts, etc.

101 Dalmatians (Walt Disney's Classic) [VHS]

Genre : Video ( VHS Tape )
Release : 1992/09/15

Product Description
Back in 1961, Walt Disney got a little hip with 101 Dalmatians, making use of that flat Saturday morning cartoon style that had become so popular. The result is a kitschy change in animation and story. Pongo and Perdita are two lonely dalmatians who meet cute in a London park and arrange for their pet humans to marry so they can live together and raise a family. They become proud parents of 15 pups, who are stolen by the dastardly Cruella De Vil, who wants to make a fur coat out of them. Cruella has become the most popular villain in all of Disney; she's flamboyantly nasty and lots of fun. But it's the dalmatians who shine in this endearing classic, particularly those precocious pups. Telling the story from the dogs' point of view is a clever conceit, a fundamental flaw of the live-action remake. --Bill Desowitz

I live for furs. I worship furs! After all, is there a woman in all this wretched world who doesn't?
It was 1961, and if not exactly a palindrome, it was an unusual year that read the same way upside down. After a solid run of 10 Disney animated features beginning in 1937 with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and continuing through 1959's Sleeping Beauty, change was in the air. It was the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, the sixties were upon us, and prophetically, as if foreshadowing the British Invasion, we have One Hundred and One Dalmatians patriarch Pongo relating this chronicle:

-------------
Pongo: My story begins in London, not so very long ago. And yet so much has happened since then, that it seems more like an eternity.
=======================

The art style was different, and the characters and location were more modern and contemporary. The backgrounds were stylized line illustrations, charming in their own way, but drawings rather than paintings. Compare the opening sequence of Pinocchio to the similar scene of London in 101 Dalmatians. The Afghan owner, a woman artist in a beret, who almost looks like she could be a beatnik, might have drawn 101's urban backgrounds.

Funny thing, though Pongo's owner Roger is a struggling songwriter, there are only two songs in the film, "Cruella De Vil" and the inconsequential "Dalmatian Plantation." Previous Disney efforts were more like Broadway or MGM musicals. Lady and the Tramp, for instance, had the venerable Miss Peggy Lee providing several spectacular songs throughout. Ukulele Ike provided "When You Wish Upon a Star" for 1940's Pinocchio, and "Someday My Prince Will Come" was even covered by Miles Davis and is a firmly established jazz waltz standard.

Though 101 Dalmatians had some big shoes to fill--or chew on, after more than 20 years, you can't exactly blame Disney for trying something new. Taken on its own terms, it is a perfectly delightful film with plenty of the Disney patented heart warming moments, colorful characters, and memorable villains. I was wondering why Cruella spelled her name De Vil instead of like Coupe De Ville, but then I realized that if you lose the space, you get devil, and Cruella is certainly a devil of a villainess. Martha, Paris, Imelda, Leona... What do they know?

---------------
Anita: Cruella, isn't that a new fur coat?
Cruella De Vil: My only true love, darling. I live for furs. I worship furs! After all, is there a woman in all this wretched world who doesn't?
======================

Then there are Cruella's henchmen, Horace and Jasper, who aren't above cloaking their misdeeds with a counterfeit governmental stamp of approval:

---------------------------------
Jasper: There's a new act just been passed in parliament. Comes under the heading of "Defense of the Realm Act", it's article 4, section 29, it's very important, you see, it's the law, and it's for your safety, ma'am.
Nanny: Well, I don't care what Parliament realm, or whatever it is, says. You're not coming in here, not with the mister and missus gone.
=======================================

Sometimes it almost seems like Disney will take the modern approach too far:

------------------
Pongo: Come on, kids! Roll in the soot!
Penny: You mean you want us to get dirty?
Pepper: Did you hear that, Freckles? Dad wants us to get dirty.
Cadpig: Mother, should we?
Perdita: [sighs] Do as your father says.
Pepper: This'll be fun!
Cadpig: I always wanted to get good and dirty!
===============================

Can a 'wardrobe malfunction' be far behind? Fortunately, the soot washes right off, and the Dalmatians, or Disney, haven't changed their spots at all.

One unintended consequence of this movie was that it made the Dalmatian breed look so cute that every time it is re-released kids inevitably talk their parents into getting one of the little rascals only to find that in real life Dalmatians are high energy/high maintenance dogs that most families are ill prepared to deal with.

For the filmmakers, the challenge of 101 Dalmatians is only that it was difficult to give them all unique personalities. The runt of the litter, named Lucky, stands out, as do Patch, with his eye patch markings, and Rolly, with his insatiable appetite; but who can really tell Penny, Pepper, and Cadpig apart? Even the proud parents Pongo and Perdita have trouble.

Bottom line is The Hundred and One Dalmatians is something a little different from previous Disney films, but is nonetheless a very entertaining film that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Even my three dogs, Dusty, Delilah, and Miles enjoyed it. Three paws up; and a bark, two yips, plus one very enthusiastic group howl.

Rolly: But I am, just the same. I'm so hungry I could eat a... a whole elephant.

Spots before your eyes
Based upon Dodie Smith's excellent novel The Hundred And One Dalmatians (see my review), this is the story of Pongo and Perdita, a married couple of Dalmatians in London, and their quest for their 15 kidnapped puppies. Though it misses quite a few of the subtleties of the book (which is why I only rate it at four stars), it's still a delightful animal film--one, indeed, of Disney's best--with a large cast of very individual creatures (and humans, such as "my old pet," songwriter Roger Radclyffe, his bride Anita, Nanny (who's "almost canine at times"), and, of course, the over-the-top Cruella deVille and her henchmen Jasper and Horace Baddun). More overtly humorous than Smith's work (doubtless as a bow to the less subtle American sense of what's funny), it's still full of laughs, action, and suspense, and is a film I rewatch regularly. Highly recommended.

Great entertainment
Bought this to view for our "1st Annual Cousin Weekend". We had 5 of our grandkids at the same time and wanted to have a family movie that we could all enjoy, and we did!

this grandmother is pleased!
The dvd was purchased for my granddaughter and she just loves it! the action, color, and animation is pure innocent entertainment value for little eyes and ears.101 Dalmatians (Two-Disc Platinum Edition)

Tae-Bo Workout: Instructional and Basic (Tae-Bo: The Ultimate Total Body Workout for Men & Women) [VHS]

Genre : Video ( VHS Tape )
Release : 1998/12/29
Price :

Buy

Product Description
Billed as the "future of fitness" and hawked by numerous celebrities, Billy Blanks's Tae-Bo actually deserves much of the hype it's receiving. A mixture of boxing punches and martial arts kicks, Tae-Bo is fun and easy. One of the best elements of this two-tape set is that the first tape (which is 40 minutes long), Tae-Bo: Instructional, lays out the movements you need to successfully complete a workout. Once you've mastered the steps, you won't have to fast-forward through half the tape to get to the workout, nor will your workout be slowed down by the repeated lessons. After you feel comfortable with the movements (and they're really quite easy to follow; nothing too complicated to trip you up), you're ready to move on to Tae-Bo: Basics, a 27-minute workout (5 minutes of warm-up, 18 minutes of Tae-Bo, and 4 minutes of cool-down) that will have your heart pounding and your body sweating. The only downside to this tape is the less-than-exciting music. Blanks, a seven-time World Martial Arts champion, is a superb instructor, providing encouragement and careful instruction (if you don't know by the end of the tape to hold in your stomach, that's no one's fault but your own). Not only is Tae-Bo great exercise for all levels, but the punches and kicks are wonderful for working out stress and aggression. This is the aerobics exercise video for people who are bored by aerobics. --Jenny Brown

Tae-Bo Workout as Promised
I received the tae-bo VHS and it was exactly as promised. New, factory sealed, and it came within 3 days!

Faulty Tape
Upon receiving the Tae Bo Basic and Instructional tapes, I proceeded to play them. Neither one worked. They both were faulty. They got caught up in my vcr player and had to be thrown out. So much for trusting Amazon!

Disappointed
When I decided to purchase the tapes it said "Instructional & Basic"; I only received Basic. Not sure what happened but I was expecting both. I hear the instructional basically tells you what to do or how to do it; luckily I've had this tape before and know how to perform the moves; I feel I got cheated as far as my product; but what I did received arrived in a timely manner

Wasn't shipped what I paid for
I purchased the Tae-Bo workout Instructional and Basic VHS tapes and only received one tape in the mail.

Good Workout...Bad Visuals
I bought this tape in an effort to build body strength and lose some pounds. It was a penny before shipping so I didn't think twice whether to buy it or not. I think that it is a great workout for beginners like myself. I do think that Billy Blanks probably should have done this video by himself. The camera focused too much on the other people in the tape and not enough on him, so it is hard to see where he places his foot and how he twists his knees during jabs. I hated that the camera was on one of the girls in particular that kept screaming, oh yeah. After a couple of times, it drove me crazy. All in all it was a good tape, even though I have to keep the volume turned down and look away from the tape. oh yea!

Product Description
There is greatness in film that can be discussed, dissected, and talked about late into the night. Then there is genius that is right in front of our faces--we smile at the spell it puts us into and are refreshed, and nary a word needs to be spoken. This kind of entertainment is what they used to call "movie magic," and there is loads of it in this irresistible computer animation feature. Just a picture of these bright toys reawaken the kid in us. Filmmaker John Lasseter thinks of himself as a storyteller first and an animator second, much like another film innovator, Walt Disney.

Lasseter's story is universal and magical: what do toys do when they're not played with? Cowboy Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), Andy's favorite bedroom toy, tries to calm the other toys (some original, some classic) during a wrenching time of year--the birthday party, when newer toys may replace them. Sure enough, Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) is the new toy that takes over the throne. Buzz has a crucial flaw, though--he believes he's the real Buzz Lightyear, not a toy. Lasseter further scores with perfect voice casting, including Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head and Wallace Shawn as a meek dinosaur. The director-animator won a special Oscar for "the development and inspired application of techniques that have made possible the first feature-length computer-animated film." In other words, the movie is great. --Doug Thomas

Great for Kids, Fun Viewing
This is the first in the "Toy Story" franchise (1995) and the first film animated solely by computer. It establishes a family of toys owned by a boy named Andy who plays rough with his toys and writes his name on his favorites. This is really an action flick with toys rather than people being the superheroes engaged in intrepid rescues.
The toys fear birthdays and Christmases because Andy may get a new toy as a present; this new one may win him over, and some of his older ones may end up in a dumpster or out at a yard sale.
The leader of the toy family is Woody (Tom Hanks), a cowboy puppet who plays some electric sounds if a wire in his back is pulled. Of course these toys can talk. The sequel to this movie was very good in filling in the back stories of the toys (Woody was a spin-off toy from a popular old TV series), and it individualized them. Bo Beep with her little crook in this one seems to have a crush on Woody.
On his birthday Andy gets a new toy, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), whom he prefers to Woody at first. Buzz thinks he's a real spaceman which makes him take crazy risks. Buzz and Woody have to save toys from the nasty, sadistic next-door kid named Sid and his vicious dog. Sid turns toys into mindless mutants. Sid really is an evil piece of work.
People are the bad guys. Andy, a typical kid, is fickle about his toys. People are also dangerous for the toys because they are unpredictable.
This is a real kid's movie without any adult-aimed gags. When viewed with the second in the series, it provides some fun viewing because there's so much growth in "Toy Story 2."

Toy Story (10th Anniversary Edition)
A little boy named Andy loves to be in his room, playing with his toys, especially his doll named "Woody". But, what do the toys do when Andy is not with them, they come to life. Woody believes that he has life (as a toy) good. However, he must worry about Andy's family moving, and what Woody does not know is about Andy's birthday party. Woody does not realize that Andy's mother gave him an action figure known as Buzz Lightyear, who does not believe that he is a toy, and quickly becomes Andy's new favorite toy. Woody, who is now consumed with jealousy, tries to get rid of Buzz. Then, both Woody and Buzz are now lost. They must find a way to get back to Andy before he moves without them, but they will have to pass through a ruthless toy killer, Sid Phillips. I loved the story and liked the animations a lot. This movie is pretty much perfect. It's adventurous, exciting, entertaining, and good for the whole family.

Disappointed
I ordered this movie, Toy Story, for a Christmas present on December 3, 2009 and supposedly it was shipped on December 6, 2009 and was to arrive to my house no later than December 28, 2009. Unfortunately, it never arrived and I contacted the seller to get a tracking number so that it can be tracked through the postal service & I never received that number either. The seller offered to refund me my money or send a replacement on December 31, 2009 and I chose the refund due to it being well passed Christmas. It is now January 26, 2010 and still no refund or movie. I am very disappointed in this purchase because there was no hesitation to take my money; however, it seems that my order has been forgotten.

Product Description
This emotionally moving romantic drama was adapted by WilliamNicholson from his own acclaimed play, based upon the real-life romance (during the 1950s) between the British writer C.S. Lewis and a divorced American poet named Joy Gresham. Best known for writing The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Lewis (Anthony Hopkins) is living comfortably as a respected Oxford don, his academic lifestyle a kind of shell protecting him from the emotional risk of love. Joy Gresham (Debra Winger) arrives at Oxford as an avid admirer of Lewis's writing, and the safety of his collegiate routine is quickly disrupted when Lewis realizes that he's fallen deeply and unexpectedly in love. Their courtship is uniquely engaging; he's shy and uncertain, she's outspoken and bold. But when Joy is diagnosed with cancer, Lewis's Christian faith is put to the test--he cannot fathom why their happiness together would be so drastically challenged. Together, they find a way to accept and honor the time they have shared together, and under the sensitive direction of Richard Attenborough, Shadowlands arrives at a conclusion that is both heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. Hopkins and Winger are equally superb in this absorbing story of personal and spiritual transformation--a story previously filmed for British television in 1985, with Joss Ackland and Claire Bloom. --Jeff Shannon

Hopkins captures the essence of Lewis' spirit
This is probably my favorite movie of all time. C. S. Lewis was a remarkable man and a writer without peer. His work and life have inspired many to turn to God and deepen their own spiritual journey.

Anthony Hopkins, possibly the best actor of our time, has captured the essence of Lewis' faith and character. Debra Winger is surprisingly vivid as the one woman Lewis ever loved.

Unfortunately this movie has a limited release and not many people have seen it. I am happy that Amazon had it available, as I searched video stores for it in vain.

Shadowlands shines bright.
Shadowlands as a love story is deeply inspiring. Shadowlands as a story of faith is richly rewarding. Well acted by both Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger, the movie is at once touching and inspirational. The true story of the later in life coming together of a Joy Gresham and CS Lewis, one of the great apologist for the Christian faith, Shadowlands has it all. I cried, I laughed, I grew in my faith, I was thoroughly enchanted. I ordered two more copies to give to my grown sons.

Extraordinary film
Great and moving drama, great interpretation, if u want enjoy a romantic and human story of the condition of love an the delicate and sutil beauty of the human espirit, u must see this extraordinary film.

Shadowlands
For those who have lost a loved one, this is one of the hardest movies to watch. You experience the pain all over with C.S. Lewis And you have a hard time not crying.

Fantastic - then and now.
I loved this movie the first time I saw it many years ago. It is just as great now. Anthony Hopkins is so attractive and sexy. This movie provides another look at the amazing depth of his acting ability. The list of friends who want to borrow my copy just gets longer as more of them hear about how great it is. (Somehow they all missed it when it came out.)

Sweatin' to the Oldies 3: An Aerobic Concert with Richard Simmons [VHS]

Product Description
The third workout video in the Sweatin' to the Oldies series follows the winning format of a lively, beginners' workout with Richard Simmons and a cheerful roomful of enthusiastic friends--many large sized--dancing to blasts from the past with a live band. This time the venue is a theme park, and the music includes get-up- and-dance favorites such as "Gimme Some Lovin'," "Louie, Louie," "Rockin' Robin," "Born to be Wild," "The Name Game," and "Do You Want to Dance?" The choreography is aimed at beginners: simple moves like knee lifts and cha-cha steps, always light intensity and low impact. Besides the motivating music, what makes this and all of the Sweatin' to the Oldies videos special is how much fun everyone on screen is having. You can't help but catch their dancing fever! (36 minutes of aerobics plus warm-up, cool down, and stretch, total 58 minutes.) --Joan Price

Thanks so much!

Sweatin to oldies 3 an aerobic concert with Richard Simmon's: Best method of working out so.
Hello I'm an autistic adult.

This is my Review on Sweatin to the Oldies 3 Aerobic Concert for the VHS.

My dad got this originally for his own personal use to lose weight back in the early 1990's back then I was a little kid and use to excerise with my dad because I enjoyed the music. To this day I still have the VHS tape & still use it today to work out to. If it ever break's I'm buying it on dvd to use. When my dad started usuing this to excerise he lost about 30 or 40 pounds back then and I lost some weight from excerising to this to. So I can defently say that this VHS tape defently work's for losing weight and is the best method I've seen out anywhere.

Get this VHS tape or if your lucky buy it on dvd then you'll know it will last longer.

By th eway the only reason why I didn't review this earlier was because I didn't know amazon sold this.

Happy Hunting for Excerise Videos!

great service
It was in great condition and everything was fine. It shipped on time, Which I really like. I had no problems with it all.

Now we're cookin'...
Having started my adventures in home work-out videos with Richard Simmons' Sweatin' to the Oldies, I promptly picked up this third "aerobics concert" in the "Oldies" series. This tape is considerably more difficult (and longer, at about 50 minutes) than the first Sweatin' to the Oldies, but it is still well within the grasp of a very overweight beginner like me. Like the others, it will take the viewer a few runs through to begin to get the moves down, as Richard gives pretty minimal cues. This tape begins with an easy warm up tune, followed by two easy-paced numbers to stretch and warm up the upper and lower parts of the body. Then the dancing takes off with four up-tempo dance pieces. The intensity of your work-out very much depends on the energy you put into it, and the many exercisers (of all shapes and sizes!) demonstrate a broad range of effort with which you can experiment to find the level that suits your conditioning. A slower, cool-down dance follows, and the tape concludes with a stretching sequence. I personally don't care for this stretching routine, as I prefer slower, more sustained stretching than the rhythmic stretches Richard leads. As with all the Simmons exercise videos, you musn't miss the line-up after the stretching, when his exercisors are introduced and their weight-loss accomplishments shown. It's very encouraging and the people appear to be having an enormous amount of fun! I know I certainly do!

Richard is the best!!!!!!!!!
Richard's workouts are very awesome, he is very incouraging and helpful. Just like most of his videos, he always has the everyday kinda person in them, all shapes and sizes, and thats a big incouragement. This video I think out of all the sweatin to the oldies, is the best, it's very energetic and makes you really sweat, but yet you feel really good after the workout, not like most that make you feel exasted! Richard is just the best! I know he is helping me through a tough time with my weight and i'm slimmin down wonderfully! Good luck to everyone and don't feel hopeless, keep it up and you'll get where you need to be!!! GODDESS BLESS!!!!!!!!

Product Description
Clean white sand and a cool predawn sky are the backdrops for this stunningly produced video, complete with an upbeat New Age soundtrack. Don't be put off by the MTV-like camera work, as this video constitutes an excellent, well-balanced workout. Ali MacGraw and a supporting cast of something-for-everyone models work through this 50-minute routine, overseen by yoga master Erich Schiffman. The first minutes focus on ujjayi breathing, then MacGraw leads us through a complete practice of shoulder stretches, sun salutations, back bends and twists, and standing poses. No equipment is required, but a sticky mat is recommended. Unlike other videos targeted for beginners, Yoga Mind & Body does not offer modifications for difficult poses and so is best suited for practitioners with some previous experience. --Jhana Bach

Excellent.
Great product. I wish they wouldn't be discontinuing, b/c this is something that should win another Exercise Video of the Year, which I believe it did so in 1994.

practice regularly
Great video to practice hatha yoga with at home! I usually practice in a class, but when I can't make it this is the only video that keeps me focused. I tried many yoga videos and I keep coming back to this one.

My favorite yoga DVD
I absolutely love this DVD. In fact I first bought this many years ago on VHS and still find that I keep returning to this program. The setting is beautiful and the instruction is a very mindful yoga practice by Erich Schiffmann. This DVD is in fact more about yoga as a practice than as a workout. So while it will improve your health, it is just as much about your mind/spirit. If this is what you're looking for, then you'll enjoy the DVD, if not, then you might be disappointed. Personally, I originally bought it as a workout video and then discovered that I loved the mental benefits of yoga as much as the physical. Also this has the best savasana of any yoga DVD that I've done, or live class that I've taken for that matter.

I see that there are a lot of comments about the music, both positive and negative. The soundtrack is by the group Dead Can Dance from their album Into the Labyrinth. You can listen to samples here on Amazon and see how you feel about it. (I know for sure that "The Spider's Stratagem" and "Yulunga" are on the DVD.)

Not just for those with yoga experience...
This video was the first yoga instruction I ever had and I absolutely loved it. While it does appear to be a bit more advanced, the benefits are not lost on beginners. I began using this video when I was only 12 years old and still didn't have an issue with it. In all honestly, I enjoyed this video more than the beginners yoga classes I attended in the following years.

Just remember to pace yourself and never push yourself further than your body can handle. If you make it through, I promise you'll be the most relaxed you have ever been at the end of the video.

Love it!
I was frustrated with the dvd at first(in a good way), because it was challenging... but after doing it for a week or so, I could already see improvements.. and that motivated me to keep doing it. It had really changed my muscles and made my back feel so much better. I really enjoy this dvd and will continue to do it!
